How to Make Your Own Bride of Frankenstein Costume
Not willing to spend lots of money on a costume you are going to wear only once? Well, just make your own costume with minimum investment! Here is how you can do that. First of all decide on the type of Bride you are going to be. If you go for the traditional look, then measure your height and purchase twice as many yards of white felt. Then fold the felt in two and cut a hole in the middle in the position where your head will go. Then, measure the place where your arms will be and mark it. Fold the shoulders two or three times until you obtain that draped look, then pin and sew them. Sew the laterals of the dress, leaving holes for your arms, and your Bride of Frankenstein dress is done! Wear it with a white turtleneck for a more accurate look.
If you are not comfortable with going through all this you can go to a thrift shop and purchase an old wedding gown. Then, using a pair of scissors, tatter it so that it looks worn out. You can also pain some tatters in grey and black, for a gloomier look. For sexy looks you can use a white mini dress or a white top with white mini skirt.
In order to do your beehive hair you will need a curly black wig (you can find it in the thrift shops, too) and a paper or Styrofoam cone. Place the cone in the middle of the wig, then attach the hair to it using pins or glue, until all hair strands are oriented upwards, then paint two strands of hair using white dye. Then place a wig cap on your head and put the wig in place.
No matter if you choose to purchase your costume or make it yourself, make sure you complete it with the appropriate facial and body make-up, some white stockings and a pair of black, comfortable shoes, so that you can dance all night long. Combine this costume with the Frankenstein outfit for a great couple costume!
